We all have our own ideas of what a perfect day is, but there's something more special about a perfect day, or any day, in Jacksonville. Why?
Let's start with the obvious: Jacksonville has 22 miles of coastline, full of sandy beachbreaks that light up from any hint of swell in the Atlantic Ocean. From hurricane swells in August to Nor'easters in October, and fun-sized waves in the summer, there's a wave in Jacksonville 365 days a year (or so it seems).
Not only is Jacksonville Beach a swell magnet. It's one of the best surf communities in not just America, but the world. It's got its own fair share of rich history and local legends making impacts today. One of those local legends is Dane Jefferys. A North Florida native, Dane worked his way up the surf industry ladder, spending 15 years with Sunrise Surf Shop, and even ran the iconic Volcom Pipe Pro in Hawaii. In this video presented by Visit Jacksonville, we chatted with Dane about his surfing career from his first waves to competition. We also discuss his involvement with the Florida Boardriders movement. Above all, he talks about why he calls North Florida home—and it all comes back to his vision of perfect day.
